Izabella Hollinek, psychologist at Agapedia Foundation and her mother, Olga Hollinek, realized an illustrated book for children about life of a bear family. Named “The wonderful story of Murmurel Family”, the book presents real aspects related to feelings of a family that wants to adopt a child, to parents’ decision to adopt and the harmonious development of a child with two loving parents.
Research and studies demonstrate that truth for an adopted child represents an important value and this is why, he/she needs to be informed as soon as possible about his/her adoptive and biological family in order to positively influence personal identity and self-esteem.
“The most appropriate and accessible way for little children to get familiarized with adoption is through a story (like this one), subsequently presenting child’s own story. I would like to offer a small help through this illustrated book,.” – Izabella Hollinek
IZABELLA HOLLINEK is licensed in psycho-pedagogy, specialized in social pedagogy (in Germany) and works in the field of social assistance since 1992, being profiled in educational services, counselling of families in need and adoption. Throughout her professional experience acquired at Agapedia Foundation, she could observe difficulties adoptive parents face, thing that motivated her to write the story, offering a help in this way.
OLGA HOLLINEK is the illustrator of this book, she graduated classes of Brasov Popular art School, painting.
Book was published by Agapedia Foundation Romania with the financial support of National Authority for Child Protection and Adoption (NACPA) and was distributed for free to NACPA in the country.
