Between January-April 2019, our foundation had implemented “Puberty and Adolescence” project in 7 high schools from Brașov County. The project aim was to prevent school drop-out caused by pregnancies through sexual education and responsible behaviour. The project “Puberty and adolescence” was funded by TELUS International Romania Foundation with a total amount of $ 4,333.
Our team have organized 14 interactive information sessions in 7 high schools from Brașov County, that were attended by 520 young people. The information sessions were interactive and consisted in getting to know each other games, adolescence and puberty descriptions, sexual education, “Choose for yourself” brochures distribution and filling the questionnaires. The youngsters feedback was positive and they told us that they have appreciated our dynamic in delivering these sessions. During these sessions a number of 325 questionnaires were filled by teenagers.
Agapedia will continue this program related to health education through the local youth action group formed by 15 youngsters who choose to initiate a project related to sexual education for young people.
Parental abilities development
Through non formal activities, Agapedia aims to help developing parental abilities for a harmonious child – parent relationship, for a safe attachment, learning and developing independent life skills and school dropout prevention.
”Puberty and adolescence”
Agapedia mobile team consisting of a social and a medical assistant went in schools and high schools form Brasov County in order to hold informative sessions.
During these sessions were presented information related to: changes that occur in our bodies in puberty and adolescence, personal hygiene, development of a healthy and responsible sexual behaviour, reproductive health, underage pregnancy prevention, risks of beginning sex life, sexually transmitted disease prevention, useful advice on how to avoid risky situations, abortion and consequences, how to take best decisions for sexual relations.
